Post Office card now has a transfer fee

The Post Office have finally joined most other balance transfer card providers by charging a 2.5% fee for all balances transferred. The Post Office Card presented one of the few remaining opportunities for credit card ’surfers’ to avoid a fee for a 0% introductory deal.

There is some sort of compensation for the loss of this facility though, as the 0% period has been extended from 6 to 8 months, although potential applicants should note that there is no upper limit for the transfer handling fee.

Regular spenders may be disappointed to see that the interest free period on purchases has been slashed from 6 months to only 3.

One welcome change to the card’s feature range is the removal of the 2.75% charge for using the card overseas - from now on, all transactions made abroad will be fee-free, which should be welcome to regular travellers.
