Barclaycard launches text alert service
Barclaycard’s 9 million customers now have the option of being reminded by text message that payment is due, with the credit card issuer’s launch of a new text alert service.
The service is free, and can be joined simply by contacting Barclaycard customer services on 0870 1540154 with the number of the mobile phone you want the reminder sending to. Reminders will be sent out 5 working days before the payment is due, giving enough time to pay by cheque or online by transfer.
The new service coincides with changes to Barclaycard customers’ paper statements, which will now include advice on the benefits of paying more than the minimum amounts to those who don’t always do so, and offers for regular late payers to change the billing date to better fit their budgets.
Keith Coulter, Barclaycard’s managing director of UK cards and loans, said:
“We want to make our products easier to understand and these are simple things that will help customers avoid paying unnecessary fees on their account.”
