Millions find chip and pin difficult

New: Amex Red card

American Express have a new card which will help fight HIV and Aids in Africa. The Amex Red card is to be launched in the UK only as part of a new global brand, Product Red, backed by pop singer Bono, which also includes products by Gap, Emporio Armani, and Converse.

Credit card spending falls

Are shoppers ditching credit cards? New figures from credit card processor Visa show the first ever year-on-year fall in credit card usage in the UK.

The number of Visa-branded cards in use fell by 3.2% over the 12 months to September 30th, while total spending on credit cards fell by 3% to £85.2bn.

Cost of credit penalties revealed

A report by Moneyexpert.com has estimated that the British public paid a total of £553m in credit penalty fees during 2005, with at least 1 in 5 people being hit by a charge from their credit card company, bank, or other financial institution.
